When the Founding Fathers of this great nation worked out its form of government, there were no thoughts of forming political parties.

The States elected representatives went to Washington to conduct the peoples business, voting their conscience on issues of the day.

There was no left or right, no red or blue, no sitting on one or other side of the house, no Republicans and Democrats.

And that’s the way it was meant to stay, as we clearly learn from George Washington’s Farewell Address of 1879, in which he strongly condemned the formation of political parties and warned of where this would lead.

Why oh why did those men in government not respect this great man enough to take his words of WARNING to heart, and thereby avoid the tragic political situation the nation finds itself in today?

An A.I. Overview

In his 1796 Farewell Address, George Washington warned against the dangers of political parties, fearing that they would create division, encourage factionalism, and lead to a more permanent despotism.

He believed that unity was essential for the survival of the democratic republic and that partisanship would distract the government from its duties.

Key Statements From The Farewell Address

Washington feared that the animosity and revenge of party politics would lead to the “alternate domination of one faction over another,” which he called a “frightful despotism”.

Subverting the power of the people: He warned that parties could become “potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government”.

Agitation And Animosity

He stated that the “spirit of party” would “distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration,” agitate the community with “ill-founded jealousies and false alarms,” and “kindle the animosity of one part against another”.

Opening the door to foreign influence: He also cautioned that partisanship could open the door to “foreign influence and corruption,” which could then manipulate the government through “party passions”.

Context of His Warning

Washington’s concerns were influenced by the emerging partisan conflict between the Federalists, led by Alexander Hamilton, and the Democratic-Republicans, led by Thomas Jefferson.

Though he was often seen as aligning with the Federalists, Washington viewed himself as a leader above partisan politics who wished to serve all citizens.

He was frustrated by the intense partisan bickering he had witnessed during his second term and believed it jeopardized the nation’s future.

The Inevitability of Parties

Despite his strong warnings, Washington acknowledged that the “spirit of party” was “inseparable from our nature” and would likely exist in some form in any government.

However, he insisted that a “wise people” had a duty to discourage and restrain it.

His farewell message, though published in a newspaper rather than delivered as a speech, served as a final, comprehensive warning to the American people about the domestic and foreign threats to their young republic. End.

In fact one of Washington’s given reasons for leaving the presidency after only two terms, was that he was wearied by having to deal with the constant warring between the parties in existence nearing the end of his second term!

Physical Violence And The Threat of Worse

Physical violence is occurring, the opinion polls suggest that it is actually OK to eliminate a political opponent!

It should be time to remember Washington’s admonition, and to take the decision to return to the founding fathers system WITHOUT POLITICAL PARTIES.

With each state sending their chosen representatives to congress, doing the peoples business, voting their conscience on every issue, without the existence of any political parties.

Save the outcome of more political shootings, and the ever closer potential threat of another American Civil War between the supporters of these two political parties!

Almighty God expects our politicians to rise above party politics!

Leading members of the present administration have been moved to live on military bases for their protection!

This is the outcome of the formation of political parties in the US and around the world. What next?
